Presentation Title:
Driving positive change with farmers/growers in food value chains Presentation Synopsis:
Establishing connections and bringing about meaningful change in sustainable food value chains can be time consuming, complex and costly. Growers find it hard to make changes on farm that result in sustainability outcomes without the practical knowledge or tools to do so in a manner which benefits the yields and quality of their crops, and profitability of their business. This talk will look at how NIAB, an international centre for plant science and agronomy has used its industry wide technical training platform, ARTIS and agronomic farmer facing tools/advice to provide an effective ‘bridge’ between food companies and growers to drive change in food value chains which result in positive impacts to both the farmer, and upstream supply chain (processors and retailers).
